Adze, D2013.42

Stone adze blade. Cutting edge substantially chipped. Grey, with some black markings on upper half. Body of adze has quadrangular cross section. Majority of back, sides and front of blade are polished. Front of butt primarily hammerdressed. Marked transverse ridge on butt parallel to edge between blade and butt. Has stylistic affinities to some Canterbury adzes.

From donor's father's estate. Donor does not know where his father acquired it but has suggested it came from his grandfather.
