Paddle, Canoe, D45.1483

Broken and well degraded wooden paddle in poor condition. Shaft has a rounded cross section flattening out into the blade. Knob at distal end may be (?) a stylised head with forehead and under relief plain face. one side broken off off centre. The shaft increases in diameter towards the blade which has one half completely missing and the other half broken short of the proximal end. There is a ridge along the rear of the blade. The paddle is made of manuka (Leptospermum scoparum).
