Physical Description

Carved wooden figure, roughly chiselled. Soft light wood, pale colouring. Figure, stylized female. Flat base, solid short limbs. Arms attached to legs. Thick neck, large blunt head, protruding eyes, stylized face. Slight pale red stains on left leg/foot and base. Overall style of carving suggests that this and figure D88.229 were made by same carver. General appearance is of a wooden figure little handled or used and in good condition.

Figures similar to this are carved by many groups for various reasons, e.g.1) play dolls, 2) representative of a twin child who has died,etc. It is unclear as to the specific 'purpose' of this figure.
