Physical Description

Large black box, with gold imaging over entire outside and on the underside of the hinged lid. Images include floral designs, buildings and people, birds and insects. Underside of lid shows a small village with fishermen, buildings and trees. Inside box are various compartments. The two outside panels are stationary, and show more village scenes with people and trees. There are also two gold lidded containers that open. They have small fruit/leaf shaped ivory handles. The top row of small boxes contains ivory implements, such as round discs, a thimble, a clamp and a small umbrella looking object. The next row is empty. Third row has two small lidded cylindrical boxes on each side. In the centre is a red fabric cushion. Between the gold lidded boxes are small pieces of ivory, made in assorted shapes. Bottom has two sections with ivory lattices and cylinders with small removable pins.Large tray can come out, that contains all the above mentioned items. It has compartments made from wood, which haven't been removed. There is a hidden compartment on the outside of the box at the front. The box also has a lock at the front, but no key. Two legs hold the box up, they are constructed from wood and painted black and gold also. There is a separate strut between them.
