Physical Description

Ivory figurine comprised of three parts - a very stylised lotus stand, the figure of Shou Lao carved in the half-round and a back plate. Shou Lao is portrayed as an old man with an enlarged forehead and a long beard. He is wearing a long robe with a decorated border and characters on the body of the garment. He holds in his right hand a staff which appears to have broken off above hand (apparently broken when originally purchased) . His left hand holds a peach (symbol of eternal life). Back plate has stylised clouds engraved upon it.
