Shield, D25.1589

Physical Description

Long ovoid shield of strapped together cane, with dark brown cane border. Most of the shield is mid brown cane set out in horizontal rows, with the rows at either strapped together into a shaped structure that follows the shape of the border. Two vertical cane stems form the spine of the shield and are wrapped horizontally with fine cane fibre. Wooden handle tied to back of shield with thick fibres. Small woven element at tip of each end. Leather strap attached to handle.
