Physical Description
Bandsman's Sword, the hilt pattern dates from 1843. The Royal Cipher on the ecusson makes this a bandsman's sword from a foot regiment in the British army; blade curved flat and without fullers but bevelled along the back of the last 26.5cm. Solid brass hilt with ends of cross guard in trefoil or 'Fleur de lys' type pattern. rectangular section hilt, centrally constricted with decoration. Scabbard of leather (black) with brass locket with stud for frog, brass chape.
