School Holiday Programme

For a holiday full of fun and excitement, sign your kids up for Discovery Squad at the Otago Museum. Offering awesome themed activities, Discovery Squad activates and stimulates young minds.

Ages 5–12, fully supervised, dress for mess! Bring a packed lunch and drink bottle or pre-order your lunch from our Café.


Weekdays during the school holidays from Monday 28 September to Friday 9 October. Whole day sessions: $52 per child, 8.30am–5.30pm; half day sessions: $29 per child, 8.30am–1pm or 1pm–5.30pm; 10% discount when booking all 10 full days. Guided Children's Activity

During WWI, while family and friends at home gathered together to knit for the troops, wounded soldiers knitted to boost their recovery. Learn this fun, therapeutic art with members of local craft groups. Start a scarf or peggy square and take your project home to finish. 

Younger children will need help.

Guided Children's Activity

One hundred years ago, brave Otago women volunteered to serve with the New Zealand Army Nursing Service during WWI. Discover the posters that inspired them and the medals they earned, and then make your own badge of honour to keep and wear.
