Australasian bittern, Botaurus poiciloptilus, AV227

Physical Description

Study skin of a bittern. Body is in a straight line with the extended neck and legs, and the head is tilted so the beak is pointing straight up. Wings are loosely folded back against its body. Legs are crossed and tied together with string at the ankles.

Field Collection

Found entangled in telephone wires, retained by permission of Minister of Internal Affairs.
