Study skin of medium-sized bird with body and tail straight, and legs parallel. Left wing missing, right wing folded back against the body, but slightly shifted anteriorly. Some downy feathers are visible. There is a metal identification ring on the PR foot. Beak is crossed, likely from when the bird was alive. Specimen rests most comfortably on its PR side.
Label notes that this bird was ringed (i.e. it was given a leg band) at Royal Terrace on 9/11/1942. "Ringed" is the term used in Europe, whereas in NZ the term is "banded". —Cody Fraser
