Shield, D25.1590

Mid-brown and light-brown shield, constructed from long strands of cane and tied horizontally with fibres. Edge has woven plaited pattern, and two ends have cross hatch pattern, with lengths of cane across each strand. Handle on back is in dark- brown wood, tied on at each corner and across the centre with fibre. Front side has two strands which are evidence of where the handle is tied on. Where handle is attached the shield is concave.
