Physical Description

Pata' or gauntlet sword. Variation of 'katar'. Long narrow double-edged blade tapering to point, plain. Long languet apexed with palmette. Riveted to gauntlet hilt, open one side, grip perpendicular to blade. Fluted band, hinged, at end for arm. Gauntlet rimmed by numerous relief fleur-de-lis, parcel-decorated worn inlaid gold. Large brass mount on top.
