Physical Description

Large hinged box, with small gold key. Outside of box is black lacquer, with red and black frame, which has gold inlay bamboo design on it. Middle of box is black with gold insects, such as moths and grasshoppers, which has ornate faces. Gold handles on shorter ends, surrounded by floral design. Under lid is gold inlay pattern of bamboo in bunches, with shells at bottom. There is a lift up portion inside box, decorated in patterned material, with the colours red, green, blue and gold. In the middle is a painted section with storks, flowers and more bamboo, all brightly coloured. Inside box is cream, lift out section is held in place with blue tape. Tissue inside box, also a small gold key, which fits the lock on the outside. Bead also found and has been re-numbered.
