Physical Description

Bell krater. Wide flaring rim and pedestal foot. Horizontal handle on each side. Under each handle, a palmette. Tongue pattern on rim. Leaf pattern under rim forms the top frame of the scene. Bottom of scene framed by geometric border. On one side of the vase is Dionysos, Silenus, and Eros surrounded by dancing maenads. Dionysos is beardless, seated and holding a thyrsos. Eros is playing pan pipes and holds a drinking horn. Eros and one maenad painted in white. Other details also painted in white.
The other side shows three men wearing cloaks (himatia).
