Physical Description

Hilt is made of polished steel with perforated oval guard. There is a cross-bar of 12cm, spatulate at the ends and studded at each end with 12 studs. At the end of one cross-bar there is a small perforated projection to take a ring to which is attached a double chain instead of a knuckle bow. The grip is decorated with 11 circles of faceted studs, the pommel with 3 circles of the same. The pommel is urn-shaped. There are vestigial pas d'anes and 3 steel studs on each side of the ricasso. Blade is hollowed triangular in section throughout. No blade marks. Scabbard is made of vellum covered wood with steel locket and centre piece. Triangular in section. Chape missing but restored with wood.
