From Monday 27 November – Friday 1 December, the Tūhura Science Centre and Tropical Forest will be closed for maintenance. 
We strive to produce the best experience 
for our visitors and this will allow us to make our Science Centre better for years to come.

Access

Galleries and exhibitions are accessible by wheelchair and pram. 
If you need our free wheelchair, just ask at the Info Desk.

Coin operated lockers for bag and coat storage are located by the main entrance.

The Museum offers baby changing facilities. There is a play area next to the Café.

Metered street parking is available around the Museum from $2/hour.

Bus stops are located on Albany Street, at the edge of the Museum Reserve. Information on timetables and routes can be found at the Otago Regional Council website.

For the safety of our visitors and our collection, please observe these guidelines:

Children Children under 13 years must be accompanied by an adult

  • Do not touch objects unless given the okay by Museum staff
  • Some are fine to touch, but many of them will be damaged by
    the oils and bacteria on human hands.

  • Many of our objects are light-sensitive and will be damaged by
    camera flashes. 
    If you’re taking photos or filming for media,
    please contact our Marketing Manager.

  • No food or drink in the galleries
  • You’re welcome to eat in our Cafe or in our picnic areas on
    Atrium Levels 1 and 2 instead.
